Zotye Auto is going Smart & Tesla with new EV for the Shanghai Auto Show
Zotye Auto has released the first images of the new Zotye E01, a new small two-door electric vehicle that will debut later this month on the Shanghai Auto Show. Zotye is on an electric roll lately, the Zotye Yun E100 EV was launched on October last year, followed by the Zotye E20 EV in November. The E01 will be launched late this year, and there will also be a four-door version which will be called, slightly confusing, the Zotye E02.
The E01 looks like a Smart from the outside, albeit with cooler headlights, and like a Tesla on the inside:
That is a very impressive interior. The standing LCD touch screen is larger than anything seen in a Tesla or a Volvo. The icons are huge for easy navigation. The instrument panel behind the wheel is completely digital too. All functions are apparently controlled by the screen, there are only two buttons on the center tunnel and further no more, not on the dashboard and not on the steering wheel. Can’t wait to see this in Shanghai…
No word yet on power but the electric motor will probably the same 24hp/84nm unit as used in the Zotye E20.
