Patent Applied: Toyota 4Runner to come to China
Toyota has applied for patent on the Toyota 4Runner for the Chinese market, indicating the huge SUV will be launched on the Chinese auto market in the near future. Who will make it is not sure yet.
The 4Runner is closely related to the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado which is made in China by the FAW-Toyota joint venture. That likely means, in Chinese joint-venture-logic, that the 4Runner will be made by the Guangzhou Toyota joint-venture.
The fifth-generation Toyota 4Runner arrived in 2009. Power comes from a 4.0 V6 petrol engine with 270hp. This engine would be fine for China but a stonkin’ V8 would be even better. Price for a China-made 4Runner would start around 500.000 yuan or 82.000 USD.
