Ford Explorer launched on the Chinese car market

The Ford Explore SUV has been launched on the Chinese car market, price starts at 489.800 yuan and ends at 539.800 yuan. The Ford Explorer isn’t completely new in China, it was already available via the gray market where prices went up all the way to 700.000 yuan, and buyers were willing to pay that much. Good move thus from Ford to launch the Explorer officially, now for the Ford Mustang and the Ford Raptor

The Ford Explorer will be imported in China, for now, because local production at the Jiangling-Ford joint venture is expected to start in 2014. The locally made Explorer will be about 25% cheaper than the officially-imported variant. The imported Explorer will unlikely sell in big numbers, but it will work fine to make the market warm & ready for the Chinese-made car. The imported Explorer is only available with one engine; the 3.2 liter V6 with 291hp and 354nm. The locally made Explorer will likely be available with a 2.0 turbo as well, which will bring price down even further.
