A strange sight on the northern fifth ring road in Beijing, one driver found a giraffe transported in not such a very safe way in a wooden box on a truck. Giraffes on highways are very rare in China, in boxes or not in boxes.

Transporting a Giraffe in China

When back home, our driver picked up the phone and called the Beijing Zoo to check things out. A spokesperson confirmed the giraffe belonged to the zoo but didn’t say what it was doing on the ring road. When asked about the lack of safety for the poor animal the spokesperson replied that “professionals take car of it”. Check:
