Refreshed Model Y, codenamed Juniper, was spied without camouflage for the first time at a winter testing facility in Northeast China. The spy shots revealed the full-width lightbar, which many Chinese bloggers compare to today’s revealed Xpeng G7, while overseas media compare it to Cybertruck’s LED stripe.

Unwrapped Model Y spy shots were shared on Weibo by blogger Wu Pei today. Moreover, CarNewsChina obtained spy shots of the new Model Y interior, revealing the rectangle wheel and Cybertruck-influenced design.

New Model Y mass production will reportedly start in January in the Shanghai Gigafactory; the new spy shots confirm the launch is near.

Model Y was the second-best-selling car in China between January – November 2024, with 418,428 units, according to China EV DataTracker. It represents over 70% of Tesla sales in China.

In addition to the facelifted 5-seater SUV launching soon, Giga Shanghai will deliver a three-row 6-seater Model Y in the fourth quarter of 2025, domestic media reported in December.
