Great Wall Motor’s (GWM) Haval H7 (not to be confused with the domestic Chinese Haval H7) will launch in the South African market on January 15, and will then be gradually expanded to other international markets. This car is the rebranded model of the Haval Second-Generation Big Dog sold in China, but for the overseas market.

In the domestic Chinese market, the price range of the Haval Second-Generation Big Dog gasoline-powered variant is 135,800 – 156,800 yuan (18,500 – 21,400 USD), while the PHEV variant is priced between 162,800 – 179,800 yuan (22,200 – 24,500 USD).

The Haval H7’s appearance is largely consistent with that of the domestic version. The front face adopts round headlights and a polygonal grille decorated with dot-matrix chrome elements and the center is inlaid with “HAVAL” letter logo.

The car runs on multi-spoke rims, paired with rivet elements integrated into the wheel eyebrows. The roof design also comes with a luggage rack. At this time, the official has not yet announced the specific size of the Haval H7. For reference, the Haval Second-Generation Big Dog has a length, width, and height of 4705/1908/1780 mm, respectively, and the wheelbase is 2810 mm.

In terms of power, the Haval H7 is expected to be equipped with a 1.5T or 2.0T gasoline engine and a 1.5T plug-in hybrid system. But as of now, the official has not yet announced detailed power parameters.

For reference, the domestic PHEV variant is powered by GWM’s Hi4 plug-in hybrid system composed of a 1.5T engine and dual electric motors, mated to a 2-speed DHT. The 1.5T engine outputs either 123 kW/243 Nm or 113 kW/233 Nm, depending on the trims. The motors output either 130 kW/300 Nm or 220 kW/510 Nm.

The domestic gasoline-powered variant is equipped with a 135 kW/275 Nm 1.5T engine or a 175 kW/385 Nm 2.0T engine, mated to 7DCT or 9DCT, respectively.
