Xpeng CEO He Xiaopeng was seen testing the brand’s modular flying car called Land Aircraft Carrier. The participation of the company’s executive indicates that a certain milestone has been reached in the car’s development. The Xpeng modular flying car will start deliveries in 2026.

The Land Aircraft Carrier (LAC) is the flagship project of Xpeng’s subsidiary Xpeng AeroHT. It is a modular flying car consisting of two main elements: a large three-axle vehicle and an aircraft for two people. It was first announced in October 2023. In September 2024, Xpeng officially released the LAC. In late November, this vehicle performed its first public flight, receiving over 2,000 orders from clients.

In early December, Xpeng LAC was spotted during road tests in China. Now, the company’s CEO has participated in the car tests.

A recent video from Chinese social media Weibo shows Xpeng CEO He Xiaopeng testing the Land Aircraft Carrier. He was driving with an open window, chatting with a company employee. After spotting a filming camera, He Xiaopeng smiled without rolling the window up. So, it seems he wanted to repeat the information explosion Xiaomi founder Lei Jun caused by driving the YU7 electric crossover.

The car He Xiaopeng was testing is similar to a previously spotted variant. It has sleek A-pillars, flush door handles, cameras instead of mirrors, and three axles. This car also has a sporty roof spoiler and wide wheel arches. Its final details include large air intakes, a mm-wave radar, and two swing-out doors.

The Xpeng Land Aircraft Carrier consists of two parts. The first one is the Mothership, a large three-axle carrier with an EREV powertrain and a length of 5.5 meters. It stands on an 800V platform and can run up to 1,000 km in EREV mode. Thanks to the 800V system, it can charge the aircraft from 30 to 80% in 18 minutes.

The Xpeng Land Aircraft Carrier will start deliveries in 2026 at a price of around 2 million yuan (280,000 USD). Its production volume will reach 10,000 units per year.
