Great Wall Motors (GWM) has announced that its Brazilian factory in Iracemápolis will commence production in mid-2025. The announcement followed a meeting on November 26 between GWM International President Shi Qingke and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. President Lula expressed his strong support for GWM’s role in advancing Brazil’s automotive sector.

The Iracemápolis facility will be Brazil’s first factory to produce new energy vehicles (NEVs), signaling a milestone in the nation’s transition toward sustainable transportation. GWM aims to meet local demand for electric and intelligent vehicles while positioning the factory as its fourth global production base, designed to serve the growing NEV markets across Latin America.

The factory will initially produce the Haval H6 hybrid SUV, one of GWM’s best-selling models globally. The plant is licensed for an annual production capacity of 50,000 vehicles, starting with an initial output of 20,000 units. This phased expansion reflects GWM’s commitment to scaling operations as demand increases.

Over the next decade, GWM plans to invest more than 1.7 billion USD in Brazil. This substantial investment will support operations, enhance production capabilities, and foster local economic growth. Once fully operational, the factory is expected to create over 4,500 jobs, revitalizing the economy of Iracemápolis and surrounding regions.

GWM’s decision to establish local production rather than rely on imported vehicle component kits aligns with Brazil’s Mover program, which offers incentives for domestic manufacturing and green mobility solutions. The facility’s strategic location near existing automotive supply chains will further bolster its efficiency and impact.

The Iracemápolis plant reflects GWM’s strategy to expand its global presence and support the growth of NEVs in emerging markets. With a focus on local production and significant investment, the facility aims to contribute to Brazil’s evolving automotive sector.
