Nio responded to a situation with Onvo L60 delivery chaos in China. Previously, customers complained about unfair queue jumping. According to Nio, Onvo doesn’t have as much inventory as other companies.

Nio began Onvo L60 deliveries on September 28. In three days, it has delivered 832 cars to customers. It means Onvo delivered about 277 models daily. However, delivery chaos appeared as some people who ordered the L60 in September got the car faster than those who placed blind orders in May. As a result, netizens blamed Nio for shady deals and unfair queue jumping.

Nio’s response to the delivery situation

First of all, Nio apologized for the confusion in the order of vehicle delivery. The automaker admitted its inventory was small before the sales started. The volume production of the Onvo L60 started on August 15. Nio had managed to produce around 2,000 units before the launch. Approximately 1,000 of them were display cars and test-drive cars.

Nio’s officials said that they aimed to distribute manufactured cars in advance, so they sent a list of locked orders to the delivery team on September 19. However, due to a mistake, Nio didn’t manage to match locked orders and existing cars properly. As a result, some users who didn’t book the Onvo L60 in May but placed an order in September were assigned cars.

Nio discovered a mistake three days after the deliveries had started. So, it was too late for corrections. As a result, netizens in China have blamed Nio for the delivery chaos. Nio’s officials admitted there were some operational errors on their side, and apologized to clients.
