Great Wall Motors (GWM) recently launched a set of official pictures of its new 2024 Haval Big Dog light off-road vehicle designed for young city dwellers who like to get away to explore nature. It is expected to launch in the near future with 1.5T or 2.0T engine options. For reference, the price range of the current model is 119,900 – 167,900 yuan (16,700 – 23,400 USD).

As a facelift model, both the front and rear have minor adjustments. The 2024 Haval Big Dog has a larger grille in the front with thicker horizontal silver bars for decoration. The upper bar is inlaid with the new “HAVAL” brand logo. The lower bar is hollowed out. The round headlights on both sides are retained, giving it a retro hardcore off-road style.

In addition, the roof has a small spoiler and luggage racks. The taillight group adopts the popular through-type design, which is highly recognizable when lit up to form an inverted U-shape. The exhaust outlets are hidden. From the side, the wheel eyebrows and side skirts are thick and the car runs on five-spoke rims.

The size remains unchanged: 4620/1890/1780mm and the wheelbase is 2738mm. The new car offers a 1.5T and a 2.0T engine for consumers to choose from. Its new 2.0T engine model GW4N20A has a maximum power of 175 kW, which is 20 kW higher than the current model, and is mated to a 7-speed DCT. The 2.0T model may also be equipped with a four-wheel drive system. The 1.5T engine remains unchanged with a maximum power of 135 kW and a peak torque of 275 Nm, also mated to a 7-speed DCT.

As a compact SUV, Haval Big Dog’s competitors in the market are mainly Jetour Dasheng and Geely Boyue L. In June this year, 10,718 units of Haval Big Dog were sold.
