On July 11, SAIC released the official images of its upcoming Roewe D7 mid-to-high-end PHEV sedan. Earlier in June, SAIC revealed the EV version of the D7. The PHEV will be equipped with a DMH (dual-motor hybrid) system, giving it a comprehensive cruising range of up to 1,400 km. SAIC announced that both the Roewe D7 EV and PHEV versions will launch later this year.

The D7 is the first model under the Roewe brand’s “D” new energy product series as a part of SAIC’s “Three-Year Action Plan for New Energy Vehicle Development” released on April 18. Under this plan, in the next three years, 8 new energy vehicle models will be launched, including sedans, SUVs, and MPVs, covering the compact, mid-size, and large vehicle market segments.

The appearance of the Roewe D7 DMH continues the design style of the Roewe D7 EV version, only the front face has changed slightly and the shape of the headlights on both sides is not as long and narrow as the Roewe D7 EV.

The size of Roewe D7 DMH measures 4890×1890×1510mm, and the wheelbase is 2810mm, which is 18mm wider than the EV version. From the side, the hidden door handles are absent. The slight slip-back design along with the upturned ducktail on the top of the trunk lid further enhance the sportiness of the vehicle.

Equipped with dual motors and a hybrid engine with a thermal efficiency of more than 43%, Roewe D7 has a CLTC pure electric cruising range of 125 km, while the comprehensive cruising range can reach up to 1,400 km, and the fuel consumption is as low as 4.3L/100km. In addition, SAIC claimed that the NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) performance of the DMH system is 10% better than that of similar products.
