The BYD Seal 06 DM-i plug-in hybrid station wagon was exposed by the Chinese governmental regulator ahead of official premiere. It is an affordable 4.85-meter family driver that can enter European markets. It has an electric motor for 215 hp and electric range of 83 km under CLTC conditions.

The BYD Seal 06 DM-i sedan entered the Chinese market in May 28, priced at 99,800 yuan (13,800 USD). It was one of two first BYD models to get the company’s latest fifth generation DM system. This car became a huge success in China. Its cumulative deliveries from May 2024 to February 2025 reached 220,736 units, according to China EV DataTracker. Now, BYD applied for a sales license for the station wagon (estate) variant of this model.

The exterior of the BYD Seal 06 DM-i wagon aligns with its sedan sibling. Its front end has a large trapeze-shaped air intake and sharp headlights that are common for other Ocean-series’ BYD cars. The Seal 06 DM-i wagon has a BYD inscription in the front end and flush door handles. This vehicle has a slightly slanted roofline with blackened pillars. From the side, it has a single taillight unit.



Dimensions of the BYD Seal 06 DM-i wagon are 4850/1890/1505 mm with a wheelbase of 2,790 mm. It rides of R17 or R18 wheels. Front and rear overhangs of this estate are 980 mm and 1,080 mm, respectively. Approach and departure angles are 13 and 14 degrees. The Seal 06 DM-i station wagon’s curv weight lies in a 1,700 – 1,800 kg range.
The entry-level BYD Seal 06 DM-i estate adopts the 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol-powered engine for 74 kW (99 hp). This ICE is paired with an electric motor for 120 kW (161 hp). The FinDreams-made Blade LFP battery for 10.08 kWh powers this system. This version of the car can run up to 53 km (CLTC conditions) in electric mode. Due to a lower drag coefficient, the BYD Seal 06 DM-i sedan with the same powertrain boasts 80 km of EV range.

The second trim of the BYD Seal 06 DM-i wagon adopts the same petrol engine paired with a 160 kW (215 hp). This vehicle is powered by the 15.874 kWh LFP battery for 83 km. For comparison, the Seal 06 DM-i sedan has 120 km of CLTC range.
Station wagons aren’t popular in China. However, BYD is pushing its sales in Europe. So, the Seal 06 DM-i estate might enter the European market shortly after the domestic premiere.
