IM L6 EV with semi-solid state battery has 1,002 km range

Recently, the Chinese MIIT announced the range information of the IM L6 Light Year Edition from IM Motors, which is equipped with a 123.7 kWh semi-solid battery pack that weighs 621 kg, providing a cruising range of 1,002 km, assuming under CLTC conditions since the specific working conditions have not been announced. The retail price tag is 345,900 yuan (47,600 USD).

The semi-solid-state battery used in the IM L6 was jointly developed by SAIC and Suzhou Qingtao New Energy Technology (Qingtao Energy). As of the end of 2023, SAIC has invested approximately 2.98 billion yuan (410.21 million USD) in Qingtao Energy, holding 15.29% of the shares, making it the largest shareholder of Qingtao Energy.

The IM L6 Light Year Edition uses dual-motor four-wheel drive with a maximum power of 190/350 kW (255/469 hp) and is equipped with a quasi-900V ultra-fast charging technology. Charging for 12 minutes can increase the range by 400 km. For comparison, the standard dual-motor spec is 200/379 kW (268/508 hp).

The length, width, and height of the IM L6 Light Year Edition are 4931/1960/1474 mm, respectively, and the wheelbase is 2950 mm. The vehicle’s curb weight is 2,330 kg.

For its appearance, the coupe-style structure, fastback roof, hidden door handles, petal-shaped rims, and ducktail spoiler make the IM L6 look sporty and youthful. The Ligh Year Edition retains the same design as that of the standard trims, the noticeable difference is the “Light Year” rear logo.

Inside, the cockpit is equipped with a 26.3-inch liftable screen, a 10.5-inch functional screen on the center console, and a half-moon steering wheel. In addition, the entire IM L6 series is equipped with a Nvidia OrinX chip, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip, and an NXP S32G chip to realize NOA (Navigation On Autopilot) in the urban environment without a map.

In November, IM Motors sold 10,007 vehicles, a 14.98% increase year-on-year and a 0.06% increase month-on-month.
