On July 29, Seres held a ceremony to celebrate the 400,000th Aito vehicle rolling off the assembly line and the 70,000th Aito M9 vehicle being delivered, making Aito the fastest new energy vehicle brand to achieve this milestone, according to the carmaker.

Earlier this month, Seres announced it spent 2.5 billion yuan (344 million USD) to buy the Aito trademark and associated patents from Huawei. Aito (Adding Intelligence to Auto) is a new energy vehicle brand jointly launched by Huawei and Seres, established in December 2021.

Currently, Aito has three vehicle series on sale, namely, the Aito M5 (see spec here), M7 (see spec here), and M9 (see spec here). In March 2022, the Aito M5 started delivery; in August 2022, the Aito M7 started delivery.

Additionally, there were rumors that Aito plans to launch the Aito M8 this year.

In June, Aito sold 41,206 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 706.2% and a month-on-month increase of 27.3%, including 16,533 Aito M9, 17,513 Aito M7, and 7,160 Aito M5. From January to June this year, Aito’s cumulative sales volume was 182,098 vehicles, including 58,866 M9, 106,704 M7, and 16,528 M5. Furthermore, recently, Aito announced that the M9’s cumulative orders exceeded 110,000 units. For reference, Aito’s 2024 annual sales target is 600,000 vehicles.

It is also pointing out that Aito had a net promoter score (NPS) of 83.7% on the luxury vehicle brand NPS ranking list in the Chinese market in the first half of 2024. The ranking was based on the current vehicle owner’s response to the following question: if your friend or family member is looking to buy a new energy vehicle, would you recommend your current vehicle brand?
