The BYD YangWang NEV sedan was exposed in images released by the EU patent office. It follows the brand’s design language. According to rumors, the YangWang sedan will get four electric motors with a combined power output of 1,180 hp. Let’s get to know it better.

In case you have forgotten, YangWang is an NEV luxury brand under BYD that was launched in early 2023. In April, its first SUV, the YangWang U8, hit pre-sales in China with a starting price of 1,096,000 yuan (160,000 USD). YangWang plans to launch it this year. As for the second YangWang model, it is the U9 electric sports car. And soon, the new model will also accompany YangWang beasts. And it is a high-end sedan.

BYD YangWang sedan patent images

At the moment, the name of the YangWang’s sedan is unknown. This is why we keep calling it just ‘sedan’. However, we know that YangWang’s model line comprises vehicles whose names start with the letter ‘U’. So, we can assume that the name of the brand’s newcomer will be ‘U7’. But it wasn’t proved by YangWang’s representatives.

Now, let’s get to the patent images of the YangWang sedan. In China, quite a lot of netizens immediately pointed out that it has a lot in common with BYD Seal EV and BYD Seal DM-i. And we at CNC can definitely see their point. The similarities between the YangWang sedan and the Seal line are a sloped bonnet line, a slick roofline, a low beltline, and side view mirrors. The general proportions of the YangWang sedan stay really close to the Seal DM-i.

On the other hand, the new car has its design features. First of all, its front end has the signature YangWang headlights that the U9 sports car has. They look like carving forks. The lower parts of the headlights are actually running light units. Previously, YangWang got some hate for this headlight design. However, they have decided to keep this styling feature. Under the headlights, we can see a huge air intake that goes all the way through the bumper. The necessity of strong airflow hints that the YangWang sedan can appear to be PHEV or EREV. However, this information wasn’t proven. Under the large air intake, we can see the front spoiler.

Other features of the YangWang sedan are retractable door handles, real side view mirrors, a LiDAR sensor on top of the roof, and a large panoramic roof. We can see that its rear end has an active spoiler, an aggressive air diffuser, and a single taillight unit. And yet another detail of the YangWang sedan is the five-spoke rims.

Previous spy shots and additional information

Here, we will remind you that we have previously covered the spy shots of this vehicle wrapped in camouflage. The test car has the same appearance and even rims. Inside, the YangWang sedan has a large trapeze-shaped screen, an LCD instrument panel, and a third screen for the third passenger. According to rumors, this sedan can adopt the YangWang U8 and U9 powertrain with four electric motors that generate 1,180 hp. As for its price tag, it will reportedly be about 800,000 yuan (110,000 USD). This unnamed sedan will rival the Mercedes-Benz EQS, BMW i7, HiPhi Z and other high-end NEVs. More on this model as we get it!
