Haval’s upcoming Xianglong SUV was exposed on the Chinese MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) declaration database. B26 was previously announced as the internal codename. Xianglong (翔龙) is a new hard-core off-road SUV under the brand’s Dragon series. It is expected to launch in the second half of this year.

Chinese MIIT confirmed that the powertrain will come from Great Wall Motors’ Hi4 plug-in hybrid system (Hybrid Intelligent 4-wheel drive) with a maximum engine power of 120 kW. The system offers two powertrain configurations: a 1.5L hybrid engine + 70 kW front axle motor + 150 kW rear axle motor or a 1.5T hybrid engine + 80 kW front axle motor + 150 kW rear axle motor; mated to a 2-speed DHT. The pure electric cruising range is 105 km.

Overall, the exterior adopts a hardcore design with a square shape, especially with the tough-looking front quadrangular grille that is decorated with three double horizontal bars and rivets. The “HAVAL” English logo is in the middle of the grille. The headlight group adopts a retro round shape, making it highly recognizable. The front fenders on both sides are equipped with front and rearview cameras. These sensors may further contribute to the car’s advanced driving system abilities. In the rear, the square shape taillights also give off a retro vibe. Other notable design elements are the roof racks, conventional door handles, and an external spare tire.

The size of the car is 4800/1916/1822mm, and the wheelbase is 2738mm. Furthermore, the C-pillar looks wide, the D-pillar is vertical, and its windows occupy a large area, giving it plenty of natural lighting.

Judging from the nameplate, the new car is named “Haval Xianglong”.

The car will come with an optional tow hook.

Two multi-spoke blackened rim options are offered. Its body ground clearance also looks high.
