TOP 10 EV startups leaderboard in terms of sales 3rd April week.

On April 19, Li Auto published weekly sales data for the third week of April (April 10 -16). The sales data are based on weekly insurance registration data in China. They are rounded and include only EV startups.

Previously the weekly insurance data were published by China Merchants Bank International (CMBI) and various Chinese bloggers, but this stopped two weeks ago. Since then, Li Auto has started publishing the weekly data and will probably do so as long as they are happy with them. So cross your fingers for Li Auto sales.

In the third week of April, Li Auto sold about 6,300 EREVs, up 50% from the previous week. BYD’s Denza sold about 2,200 EVs – however, their last week wasn’t reported, so we need to compare it to March 27 – Apr 2, when they registered 2274 cars, meaning their weekly sales remain more or less flat.

Third place went to Neta from Hozon Motor, which sold about 1800 EVs, up 17% from the previous week. Nio sold about 700 EVs, down 46% from the last week, and this might be due to their Hefei factory retooling for the 2023 Nio ET7 facelift.

Huawei Aito sold about 1000 EVs, up 36% from last week, and Xpeng sold 1300 EVs, up 43% from last week. Xpeng started their flagship sedan P7i deliveries on March 26, s this might be the result. Zeekr sold 1600 EVs, up 8%.

Li Auto also published the TOP 10 leaderboard for premium passenger vehicle (PV) brand sales in China. This is not only electric vehicles but also ICE. You can see that Tesla is up 80% from the last week.
