China Automotive Consumer Research and Testing Center (CCRT) is a consumer protection organization established under China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC). CCRT focuses on five segments: Passenger comfort, Energy saving & Environmental protection, Driver’s assistants (ADAS), Driving performance and Perceived quality. Each of them is awarded 0-100 points. Then, CCRT experts determine an arithmetic average.

After the success with carbon emission and fuel consumption performance, the H5 failed in Driver’s assistants (ADAS) segment. According to Hongqi, the H5’s self driving system is L2. But the test car wasn’t able to automatically switch lanes, park autonomously and monitor the driver. So, it has scored 41.0/100 points (grade D) in this segment.

In Driving performance, the H5 scored 85.8/100 points (grade B). During the test; it reached the highest for the car’s stability (89.2 points). The acceleration got 88.3 points. The driver’s comfort received 83.8 points, and the breaking performance got 83.6. During the test, the H5 accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.99 seconds. As for the dry braking distance, it was 41.1 meters.

And, finally, Perceived quality of the H5 earned 73.6/100 points (grade C). Its Smart technologies got 64.8 points, reliability received 92.6 points.

As a result, the Hongqi H5 has barely reached 80.2/100 points, receiving the grade B. But its result is slightly lower than the Lincoln Zephyr sedan (known as Lincoln Z in the Chinese market) or the Changan Uni-V liftback. The main drawback of the H5 is the Driver’s assistants. It is clear that Hongqi has to work harder to enhance the ADAS’ performance.
