On February 10, the IM LS7 was launched in China, with a price range of 309,800 to 459,800 yuan ($45,500 – $67,500). Available in six trims, the IM LS7 is a midsize, pure-electric, five-seat SUV and the second mass-produced model from the automaker. According to IM Motors, deliveries of the LS7 will begin in March.

The LS7 is the first SUV from IM Motors and adopts lots of design cues from the IM L7. The lines of the LS7 are relatively smooth, and there is no excessive rib design on the sides of the body.

The car’s dimensions are 5049/2002/1731 mm with a 3060 mm wheelbase. The car runs on 22-inch five-spoke wheels paired with Michelin Pilot Sport EV tires and Brembo four-piston calipers. Its drag coefficient is 0.268cd.

On the front, the SUV adopts a closed front face design, and the headlights on both sides are in an “L” shape. It gets all-LED lights inside the headlights. The three pods on the roof are part of IM’s Advanced Driving Assistance System. The pod in the middle is for a high-resolution camera unit, and the pods on the left and right are for lidar units. Also, the door adopts a borderless design with an electric suction door lock.

The headlights can be controlled via the central control screen. For example, to let pedestrians know that they have the right of way, the driver can turn on the walking pedestrian signal in the front. The LS7 also gets three proper vents and LED daytime running lights on both sides. IM Motors also adds through-type vents to increase the lateral visual width.

The new car has a dome-style front windshield with an excellent view. According to IM Motors, the windshield measures 1613 x 1620 mm and is built with aviation-grade material.

Inside, the LS7 has a minimalist design, an attention-grabbing triple-screen design, and a half-width steering wheel. This is the first mass-produced Chinese vehicle with this type of steering wheel. However, buyers have the option of picking a full-width steering wheel.

Other features of the LS7 are its Nvidia OrinX chip, dual laser radar, Qualcomm 8155 chip, Gigabit Ethernet transmission speed, and AMOLED 2K ultra-clear interactive screen. The LS7 will be equipped with a new smart cockpit 2.0 with the IMOS2.0 version.

The right cabin of the IM LS7 is equipped with SUV electric slide rails (1955mm), connecting the front and rear seats on the passenger side. With this, the two seats on the right can be flexibly changed according to the occupants’ needs. The car also has a zero-gravity buoyant seat with an angle of 121°. Also known as a fatigue-free seat, the back, seat cushion, and leg rest of the zero-gravity seat can be electrically adjusted. It also has full-body massage, ventilation, and heating functions. The front passenger seat can be folded electronically and slid under the dashboard.

Regarding power, IM Motors offers rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive options and three battery versions: 77 kWh, 90 kWh, and 100 kWh. The 90 kWh will be built by a joint venture between SAIC and CATL.

The rear-drive version is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous rear motor with a maximum power of 250 kW. The 100 kWh single-motor rear-drive version has a cruising range of 660 km (CLTC). On the other hand, the dual-motor four-wheel drive version has a combined 425 kW capacity (front motor with 175 kW and rear motor with 250 kW), and peak torque is 725 Nm. Acceleration time from 0-100 km/h is 4.5s.

In addition, an entry-level model with a 77 kWh battery pack priced at 309,800 yuan will be launched in the second half of the year and delivered within the year.
