Aeolus, the sub-marque of the massive conglomerate of Dongfeng Motors, is on a roll now. After the presentation of their newest SUV called Haoji, they show us the upcoming version of the successful Yixuan fastback-saloon that competes with the likes of MG5, Chery Arrizo 5 or Geely Binrui.

More aggressively styled grille and hood

Compared to the current base model, the front-end of the facelifted version looks far more aggressive, dynamic and ready to eat some rivals for breakfast. The black grille looks like a hungry mouth, that wants to add some street-credibility to this compact fastback-saloon. A nice contrast to the dark grille is the orange front-flap, that sits directly beneath the license plate holder. All in all, the updated front design bears strongly resemblances to other models of the Aeolus sub-brand, and so it looks very familiar to enthusiasts of Chinese cars.

Yacht-inspired design at the rear-end

Probably the most impressive part of this compact fastback is the curved boot section, that looks like a boat-tail. The darkened rear-lights, that got redesigned, now follow the design language of his bigger sibling called Yixuan MAX. A quad-pipe exhaust system replaces the old and dated looking single-exhaust system, that even has a visible muffler! In our opinion, this is a massive improvement over the outgoing version of the compact and sporty-looking Aeolus. Massive side-skirts and blackened 16 inch alloys bring in even more coolness into this Dongfeng, that measures 4.66 metres in length, 1,81 metres in width and 1,49 metres in height. The wheelbase of the car is 2680 mm.

Engines remain possibly the same

The pre-facelift models are available with either a 1-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol-engine or a rather old-fashioned 1.5-liter petrol-engine that has also got a single turbocharger. Former aggregate is good for 125 HP and 196 Nm of torque, while the latter drivetrain delivers up to 150 HP and 230 newtonmetres. We have to wait to get more information about it, but according to our sources, the 1-liter turbocharged petrol-engine with 3 cylinders is confirmed for the facelift version of the base model. A 5-speed manual transmission underlines the sporty attitude of this car.

Various colours and styles will be offered

The philosophy of Aeolus is to be a sporty brand for the masses. This leads to a wide range of accessories and colour-combinations, that are available throughout the model range. Even bi-colour schemes, usually only very popular on SUV models, will be offered, and probably buyers can combine different shiny colours with a black roof.

Prices will be announced at a later date

Unfortunately, we do not have any information about the prices of the new variant, yet. The current model starts at a very moderate 69,900 RMB (10,500 USD), and it is likely that the facelifted version will be in the same price range. As soon as we get more news about this car, we will inform you, immediately.
