Mercedes-Benz will unveil a compact sedan concept on the Shanghai Auto Show. The concept previews the upcoming A-Class sedan for the Chinese market. The production version will debut one year later on the April 2018 Beijing Auto Show.
The A-Class sedan is an addition to the existing lineup and not a replacement of the CLA, the latter is a four-door coupe whereas the A-Class sedan will have a more traditional sedan shape. It will be based on the new MFA-II platform and made in China by the Beijing-Benz joint venture to compete with the BMW 2-Series sedan and the Audi A3 Limousine.
