Spotted in China: Audi R8 China Edition
A very rare and very wild Audi R8 China Edition, Spotted in China at the Solana shopping mall in east Beijing. The Audi R8 China Edition debuted in 2012 and was limited to only 80 cars. Price was a staggering 2.62 million yuan or 420.000 USD. No matter the money, all sold out within minutes.
The China Edition was available in two body colors: Malibu Blue body with Suzuka Grey sideblades or Suzuka Grey body and Malibu Blue sideblades.
Other special stuff includes a carbon fiber aero package with a fatass wing on the back, 19-inch wheels with bespoke matte gray 5 twin-spoke alloys, shark skin upholstery with colored stitching, handbrake and steering wheel wrapped in alcantara, instrument shield in carbon matte, and the aluminum gear knob engraved with characters R8 专享 (zhuan xiang; limited).
Audi’s China website has an English-language page dedicated to the R8 China Edition, where they write:
“The unique fixed spoiler in carbon matt makes this supercar fancier. The round tailpipes at both sides fully demonstrate the dynamic style. When the spoiler in carbon matt rips the airflow and everything flashes like a blue shadow, it’s hard for you to tell which side you will stand by, admiration or jealousy.”
Yeah! The R8 China Edition is not the only China-only spacial edition Audi R8. In 2011 Audi launched the R8 V10 Limited Edition, which was limited to only 30 cars.
The China Edition was powered by the 5.2 liter V10 with 525hp and 530nm, good for a speedy 316km/h.
