New spy shots of the upcoming Beijing Auto C51X SUV, indicating Beijing Auto isn’t quite finished with the headlights yet. They better hurry because the C51X is scheduled to debut on the 2014 Beijing Auto Show next month. The Beijing Auto C51X will then be launched on the China car market in the second half of this year.

There will be two engines available: a Mitsubishi-sourced 1.5 turbo with 163hp and 225nm and a 2.0 turbo with about 180hp. Drive train: FWD or AWD. The origin of the platform is a bit mysterious. BAIC like us to believe it is based on the platform of the old Saab 9-3, just like the upcoming Beijing Auto C60F sedan, but we think the C51X is actually based on an Hyundai platform sources from the Beijing-Hyundai joint venture.

The Beijing Auto C51X will compete with cars such as the FAW-Besturn X80 and the Haval H6. Price will start around 120.000 yuan and end around 180.000 yuan.
