Spy shots: Foton U201 SUV is Naked in China
New spy shots showing the Foton U201 SUV completely naked in China. The Foton U201 is a new large SUV under the Foton brand, a subsidiary of the Beijing Auto Industry Corporation (BAIC). The Foton U201 will debut on the Beijing Auto Show in April and will be launched on the China car market soon thereafter.
New news on the engines. Earlier on we heard the Foton U201 would be powered by a 2.0 turbo with about 200hp. New reports in Chinese automotive media indicate the 2.0 turbo is not ready yet and that Foton will first go for the classic Mitsubishi 2.4 liter four-cylinder 4G69 engine with an output of 135hp and 200nm, mated to a 5-speed manual. A lot power less, but the good news is that the price will be lower too, starting around 110.000 yuan. Development of the 2.0 turbo continues, launch is expected for late this year.
