Skoda has released the first official pictures of the China-made Skoda Rapid Spaceback, the hatchback version of the Skoda Rapid sedan. The Skoda Rapid Spaceback will be launched on the China car market in early 2014. The Chinese name is Xindong, best translated as ‘Action-Move’.

The Skoda Rapid Spaceback will be made in China by the Shanghai-Volkswagen joint venture that also makes the Rapid sedan. The Spaceback will be powered by the same engines as the sedan; a 89hp 1.4 and a 109hp 1.6. Price will start around 85.000 yuan. The Spaceback will be marketed as a kinda sporty lifestyle thing, whereas the sedan is marketed as brown-boring.

It certainly loox more sporty, especially in red.
