New spy shots of the upcoming Volkswagen Bora GLI, a sporty variant of the China-only Volkswagen Bora sedan. The Bora GLI will debut on the Guangzhou Auto Show in November and it will be launched on the China car market in December. The Bora GLI comes with a speedy body kit and racy alloys.

The base Bora. The Volkswagen Bora is made in China by the by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture. Price starts at 107.800 yuan and ends at 148.300 yuan. Engines: 131hp 1.4 turbo and a 105hp 1.6.

Sadly and badly; the Bora GLI will not get a special engine. It will have to do with the 131hp 1.4 turbo. The GLI-thing is nothing more than marketing. The GLI will likely be slower than the base car because it needs to pull more plastic around.

FAW-Volkswagen did a better job with the Volkswagen Sagitar GLI which got a 200hp 2.0 turbo, the same engine that powers the China-made Golf GTI, which is made by FAW-Volkswagen as well.

Big tires for an uncomfortable ride.
