Spy Shots: renderings of the new Hyundai ix25 SUV for China

The first renderings of the Hyundai ix25, a brand new entry level SUV for the China car market. The ix25 will debut on the April 2014 Beijing Auto Show and will be launched in the first half of 2014. The ix25 will be made in China by the Beijing-Hyundai joint venture to compete with small SUV’s such as the Ford Ecosport and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun.

Design of the ix25 will be inspired by the 2011 Hyundai Curb concept.

The ix25 will be based on the platform of the Kia Soul, which is made in China by the Dongfeng-Yueda-Kia joint venture. The Soul is priced from 103.800 yuan to 127.800 yuan, and powered by a 125hp 1.6.

The Hyundai ix25 will get the same 1.6 and also a 1.4, both mated to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. Price will start around 110.000 yuan.
