Facelifted FAW-Besturn B50 will hit the China car market in September

The production version of the facelifted FAW-Besturn B50 will debut on the Chengdu Auto Show in September and will be launched on the China car market around the same time. The facelifted B50 debuted as a semi-concept (pictured) on the Shanghai Auto Show in April.

The current Besturn B50, price starts at 68.800 and ends at 125.800 yuan. Lone engine is a 1.6 with 106hp and 145nm, mated to a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic.

The 1.6 will continue in the facelifted Besturn B50 but the four-speed automatic will be replaces by a new 6-speed automatic. Furthermore, new reports indicate the facelifted B50 will also be available with a new FAW-developed 1.8 with 139hp and 172nm, mated to the same six-speed automatic.

The Besturn B50 is based on the old Mazda 6 that is still in production by the FAW-Mazda joint venture, and the 1.6 liter engine comes from the Volkswagen Bora which is made by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture.
