The second generation Kia Sportage is still alive in China, a facelifted variant has just been launched on the Chinese car market. Price starts at 159.800 yuan and ends at 196.800 yuan. The rather extensive facelift includes a new grille, new headlights, new rear lights and new bumpers.

The Kia Sportage is still a very popular SUV in China so Kia decided to continue production as long as sales are strong. The Kia Sprtage is made in China by the Dongfeng-Yueda-Kia joint venture. Lone engine is a 2 liter four-cylinder with 142hp and 184nm, mated to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. The current third-generation Kia Sportage is imported into China, but local production at Dongfeng-Yueda-Kia is expected to start next year. It will likely get a different name, in the line of  ‘New Sportage’ or ‘Sportage Plus’.
