The facelifted Roewe 550 sedan will be launched on the Chinese car market on May 4, priced from around 100.000 yuan to 190.000 yuan. The facelifted Roewe 550 debuted on last month’s Shanghai Auto Show after much delay, the earliest spy shots of the facelifted car were seen in November 2011.

The facelift includes a new grille, new head lights, new rear lights, new bumpers, and an updated interior with a large new screen on top of the center console.  Engines: 1.8 with 133hp and 1.8 turbo with 160hp. Gearbox: the current 5-speed manual continues but the old 5-speed automatic will not return, it will be replaced by a new 6-speed DCT that was developed with GM. Roewe’s parent SAIC is GM’s partner in the Shanghai-GM joint venture.

Overall a cleaner design, but still not very special, about as exciting as a little gray car parked near a wave-less lake.
