The Opel Insignia Sports Tourer, a wagon, has been launched on the Chinese auto market. Price starts at 325.000 yuan and ends at 375.000 yuan. The Opel Insignia Sports Tourer is imported into China and thus very expensive. The Insignia sedan is made locally, rebadged as the Buick Regal.

The China-bound Opel Insignia Sports Tourer, or ‘Insignia ST’, is powered by a rather hot 2.0 turbo with 250hp and 350nm, sending power to all four wheels via a 6-speed automatic. The same engine is also used in the China-made version of the Buick Regal GS where it delivers 220hp.

The market for wagons is extremely small in China. Wealthy Chinese car buyers might order an AMG wagon in a crazy mood, but mid-market haulers like the Insignia ST simply don’t sell. Volkswagen imports the Passat Variant for the very few who really want one, and that’s about it.
