Toyota Dear sedan = new Toyota Vios for China
Chinese automotive portal 163.com says this is the new Toyota Vios, design-wise based on the Toyota Dear sedan that debuted as a concept on the 2012 Beijing Auto Show. They might be right.
The renderings look very much like the vehicle we saw on earlier spy shots (which were apparently shot in Thailand), only the grille and bumper differ slightly with more chrome added for the Chinese car market. The new Vios will debut in China in November, likely on the Guangzhou Auto Show.
The new Toyota Vios will be powered by a 1.5 liter four-cylinder with 136hp, mated to a 5-speed manual or a CVT. The current 86hp 1.3 and 118hp 1.6 will continue as well. The new Toyota Vios will be about 10 centimeters longer than the current Vios but wheelbase will be the same. Price will range from 80.000 to 110.000 yuan, sitting just under the Corolla EX in Toyota’s China line-up. The new Vios will be made by the FAW-Toyota joint venture that also makes the current car.
Current Toyota Vios. Price ranges from 89.500 yuan to 123.900 yuan. New Vios will thus be cheaper, bigger and more powerful.
