Patent Applied: Seat Mii to come to China

Volkswagen has applied for patent on the Seat Mii for the Chinese auto market. Chinese media say the Mii will be launched next year together with the Volkswagen Up! Both cars will be made in China by the Shanghai-Volkswagen joint venture, making the Mii the first Seat to be made locally.

Patent Applied: Seat Mii to come to China

Minicars are not popular in China where a SUV, be it a crappy SUV, can be had for less than 70.000 yuan. Volkswagen is aiming at young ‘n cool city folk who think that SUV is too agricultural. A low price is essential to win buyers over. Price of a locally made Up!/Mii will start around 60.000 yuan, which might be just cheap enough.
