JAC Eagle S5 SUV will hit the China car market in March 2013

The JAC Eagle S5 SUV will be launched on the Chinese auto market in March next year. Price will range from 100.000 to 150.000 yuan. The JAC Eagle S5, formerly known as the JAC SII,  is the successor of the  JAC Rein which is based on the first-gen Hyundai Santa Fe. The production version of the Eagle S5 debuted last month on the Guangzhou Auto Show.

Power will come from a 1.8 turbo with 163hp and 235nm, mated to a six-speed manual. JAC is working on an 2.0 turbo, which will be mated to a the six-speed manual or a DCT. This engine however will not be available at launch but only later next year. Early buyers so have to do with a manual. Drivetrain: 4×2 or 4×4. Size: 4475/1840/1670, wheelbase is 2645. The Eagle S5 will compete with fine cars such as the Great Wall Haval H6, the Geely GLEagle GX7 and the BYD S6.
