FAW-VW ID.7 VIZZION officially launched in China, starting at 32,000 USD

On December 15, FAWVolkswagen introduced the ID.7 VIZZION, which is set to hit the market with three models and a starting price of 227,777 yuan (32,000 USD). This launch marks another step in the collaboration between FAW-VW and SAIC-VW, joint ventures between Volkswagen and two local manufacturers known for producing cars with nuanced styling differences.

Visually aligning with the VW ID family design language, the ID.7 VIZZION presents a hatchback body with integrated hidden door handles. Its dimensions measure 4956mm in length, 1862mm in width, and 1537mm in height, with a generous wheelbase of 2965mm. A notable feature is the SkyView canopy on the roof, designed to block 99% of ultraviolet rays and over 83% of heat.

Under the hood, the ID.7 VIZZION boasts an NMC battery with a capacity of 84.8kWh. The lineup offers both a single-motor rear-wheel drive and a dual-motor four-wheel drive. The two-wheel drive model achieves an impressive CLTC range of 642km, while the four-wheel drive variant delivers a range of 570km. The initial version available for pre-sale is a single-motor rear-wheel drive, providing a peak power of 150kW and a peak torque of 310Nm.

In terms of safety, this new car uses 32% hot-formed steel and has a torsional stiffness of 46100N·m/deg; “sandwich” door sill structure; SOS driver disability situation-EmergencyAssist 3.0; driving safety-AEB automatic emergency braking system; Parking safety – 360-degree panoramic image + PDC parking assistance, as well as maternal.

The ID.7 VIZZION features a 15-inch 2K floating screen and an AR HUD guidance system inside. The vehicle is powered by the new-generation car system ID OS 2.0, incorporating iFlytek voice technology for an advanced user experience. Noteworthy features include the Air hidden air-conditioning system, adjusting wind direction and air volume based on light changes, and a Harman Kardon audio system with 16-channel speakers. The ID.7 VIZZION also integrates an assisted driving system 3.0, introducing an interactive lane change assistance function and supporting IPA + TPA parking.

For reference, the starting price of competing electric vehicles in China includes the Tesla Model Y at 266,400 yuan (37,500 USD), the BMW iX3 at around 285,000 yuan (40,100 USD, with a discount of approximately 39%), and the BYD Tang EV at 249,800 yuan (35,100 USD).

As it stands, Volkswagen’s pure electric vehicles currently hold a market share of approximately 4% in China, trailing behind significant competitors such as BYD and Tesla. The ID.7 VIZZION, with its competitive pricing and feature-rich design, aims to strengthen Volkswagen’s position in China’s electric vehicle market.
