Zhongxing is working on a new pickup truck, called the ‘Tiger TUV’ (威虎 TUV, Weihu TUV). What TUV stands for is yet unknown but we think it might be Truck Utility Vehicle or maybe ‘Tiger Utility Vehicle’. The TUV is likely based on the Tiger F1 pickup truck which became kinda famous on the Beijing Auto Show last April when Zhongxing used imagaed from the Lybian war to promote the vehicle.

Grille is much bigger than on the Tiger F1. Chinese media thinks it is a sorta up-market version of the Tiger F1 which we believe is very well possible. The Tiger F1 is dirt cheap, price starts around 80.000 yuan so there is defenitely room for something more expensive. The interior is also more stylish, with extra shiny fake wood:

Zhongxing is famous for its fuzzy names. Back in 2002 the brand launched the ‘Admiral’, a 100.000 yuan SUV that I almost bought (I went for a 40.000 yuan second hand Beijing-Jeep Cherokee instead) and Zhongxing debuted the ‘Urban Ark’ on that same Beijing Auto Show in April, that vehicle is still under development and will likely be launched early next year.
