Production of the Fiat Viaggio started in China

Party time in the great city of Changsha in Hunan Province. Production of the Fiat Viaggio was officially started, the Viaggio will hit the Chinese car market in September. The Viaggio is made in China by the Guangzhou-Fiat joint venture and is based on the Dodge Dart which again is based on Fiat’s C-EVO platform that also underpins the Alfa Romeo Giulietta.

Power will come from Fiat’s 1.4 Fire T-jet turbocharged engine with two different tunes: 120hp and 210nm and 150hp and 230nm, mated to a 6-speed ‘DDCT-C635′ dual clutch transmission. Other engines might be offered in the future, such as a cheaper 1.6 or a bigger 2.0, and even a 2.4 is possible. Price will start around 120.000 yuan and will end around 180.000 yuan. The new 730,000 square-meter Changsha factory has an initial capacity of 140.000 Viaggio’s a year.
