I love the smell of electric cars in the morning! Here we have a very special electric mini sportscar, seen by reader Lao Wei (thank you!) in southern Beijing. This is the Yangzhou Kaiersimai TM-12 EV Sportscar. In Chinese it is advertised as: Diandongxiaopaoche (电动小跑车), or Small Electric Race Car. Let’s see how fast it is!
Yangzhou Kaiersimai is based in the great city of Yangzhou in Jiangsu Province. They make all sorts of small electric vehicles but the TM-12 is by far the best. The TM-12 comes as a convertible with a folding top, as a mini pickup truck and as the coupe-version on these pics.
Now, top speed: 50 (fifty) km/h. That is slightly disappointing indeed. Range however is 120km/h and that ain’t bad for such a small vehicle. Even better, is has rear wheel drive! Drifting with an EV was never so possible. It comes with two electric motors each pooping out 4.2kw. Size: 3550/1550/1350, wheelbase is 2290. It seats only two, no room for the kid here! The body is made from glass fiber reinforced plastic which won’t rust but will break. Be careful then when drifting inside town…
