The Beijing Auto C70G debuted on the Beijing Auto Show late last month. Beijing Auto has now registered a real name for the fine vehicle: Shen Bao (绅宝), best translated as ‘Gentlemen’s Treasure’ or ‘Gentlemen’s Precious’. Well, we can think of a lotta things with that, but a Saab-based Chinese car is not the first idea that comes to mind…

Trademark registration leaked, so we know. The Beijing Auto C70G-Gentlemen’s Treasure is based on the ancient Saab 9-5 that debuted in the early 1990’s. BAIC, Beijing Auto’s parent company, bought the platforms and engines for the 9-5 and 9-3 from GM in 2009. The C70G will be powered by a reworked Saab 2.0 turbo with 200hp and 300nm, it is expected to hit the Chinese car market late this year.
