A great addition to my ever-growing Chinese tin toy collection. I found this beauty today at a market in Shanghai. It was made in the early 1980’s by the Shanghai Toy Factory. This particular toy survived all those years very well. It is a sport station wagon, originally it had a ski-pack on the roof-rack, which is sadly missing here. Otherwise it is perfectly fine, even the friction-power-train still worx perfect!

The whole car is made of tin, except for the bumpers, blacked-out windows, side-strips, lights and that roofrack. Chinese tin toys from period never had a brand-name on it, only a designation, this one is MF 126. And that is very interesting because I already have one MF 126 in my collection at home in Beijing, but that is the sedan-version which is pretty easy to find, this wagon however is very rare. Well, tomorrow I’ll pack her carefully in my suitcase so she will arrive safely in the capital. I will post a pic from the sedan later on.
