The new Ford Focus will be listed in February 2012. Production of the outgoing Focus will continue until May 2012. Then the outgoing car will be listed separately, either as a cheaper Ford-branded Focus-alternative or under a completely different sub-brand under the Chang’an-Ford joint venture. Chang’an Automotive and Ford are still talking about how to proceed.

There will be many more of these sub-brands in China. A lot are still in the planning-phase, only the Everus sub-brand from the Guangzhou-Honda joint venture is actually selling cars. Other sub-brands in the making are a yet nameless brand from Chang’an-Mazda, a nameless brand from FAW-Volkswagen, the Kaili brand from Shanghai-Volkswagen, the Venucia brand from Dongfeng-Nissan and a nameless brand from BYD-Daimler. All sub-brands focus on cheap cars, green cars or both.
