The new ‘American’ Passat soon won’t be just for America anymore. It will be made in China by Volkswagen’s joint venture with Shanghai Auto and it will be listed in May. Engines for the Chinese market: 1.4 TSI, 1.8 TSI and 2.0 TSI. The European Passat, called Magotan in China, will continue. The new Passat however will likely mean the end for the old Passat Lingyu (B5) that is still rolling off the line in Shanghai today.
