The Lavida sedan is a child from VW’s joint venture with Shanghai Automotive. The Shanghai-VW Lavida is a China-only and selling very well so it could make sense to come up with a slightly cheaper hatch.Pricewise, it would compete directly with VW’s own Golf made by VW’s other joint venture with FAW. It would also compete with the high-end Polo’s, made by Shanghai-VW itself.
The car on the pic has ‘Lavida RV’ on the plate, it could be, many a Chinese automakers call their hatches ‘RV’, the name is free for all to use. If the Lavida RV comes to la market it would likely start for around 110.000 yuan. A basic Golf is 118.000 yuan and a dressed up Polo 119.800 yuan.
